Hi, I'm Ashley.
There is literally nothing special about me except that I love God, and He's entrusted me with purpose and passion in this life.
I'm from South Georgia, born and raised.
I married my best friend eight years ago.
Together we have two sons! The treasures of this life!
John is six: a tenacious childhood cancer warrior (on treatment for stage IV high-risk neuroblastoma). He's teaching us what it means to live fully. Also noteworthy: he's wicked smart and knows all.the.things about animals, alive and extinct. He hopes to grow up and to become a paleontologist.
Ben is three: a fierce mama's boy. He's teaching us what it means to live contently. Seriously the BEST cancer bro, Benji just rolls with it. I ADORE HIM. ohemgee.
Our family is passionate about Jesus and seeing His Kingdom come in places where it's currently not. We adore immigrants and hope to mirror God's heart by welcoming immigrants and refugees into our country. What a privilege!
I desire with my entire heart and being to move back to Michigan (my home away from home). We currently live in Georgia near family, which has a long list of perks, but I miss my little immigrant community. Diversity on my doorstep! The. Best.
We obviously have a tender place in our hearts for families faced with the overwhelming life hiccup known as pediatric cancer. We once hoped to make our life overseas to learn and live and love a culture other than our own. Neuroblastoma derailed that dream (for now), but we've experienced God's goodness and grace through each step. Happy are we!
Other things:
In Myers-Briggery, I embody most every facet of the unfortunate type ENFP. It's tragic, but a few people love me anyway.
My husband is a science teacher. He's been trapped in seventh grade for three years now, and he kind of loves it.
We've been on treatment for neuroblastoma for over a year, and our life has largely been on hold. I wrote a little through our process over on John's prayer group: Praying for Tenacious John. But a writer needs to write every day, so here I am.
Thank you for reading along.

Hi! We are "neighbors," I'm just north of Detroit! Stopping by from the Allume link-up. Looking forward to being together next week!!! :)
